The aluminum can be painted with any high-temperature engine or exhaust paint before it is installed on the pipe. These shields can also be trimmed to any desired length. Use a heavy-duty pair of scissors, measure twice and cut ones. To achieve the OEM finish, use a box cutter to trim back 1/4 inch of the insulation and fold the foil over on the edge. Unlike OEM and aftermarket heat shields that use stand offs to create a gap, the Heatshield Armor Pipe Kits seal directly onto the exhaust. This prevents heat from up and around the shield to your floorboard. It also retains more heat in the exhaust system, which creates better scavenging and performance.
